Highlights from this 350 lot auction include the will and testament of William Walle, the 16th century English soldier and politician (estimate £800-1,200) and a lifetime copy of John Foxe’s (1517-87) ecclesiastical history, Actes and Monuments, better known as the Book of Martyrs (£2,000-3,000).

A standout section from Sworders' Modern British & 20th Century Art, Part 2 Timed Auction (Friday 9 October - Sunday 1 November) is provided by the collection of Pamela and William Chard. Pamela (1926-2003) won a scholarship to Chelsea School of Art in the mid-1940s when she was seventeen, with William Chard (b.1923) arriving just a year later. The couple met for the first time at the Redfern Gallery, London.
